Mark Strain, Collier County Hearing Examiner and Chairman of the Collier County Planning Commission, will be the featured guest speaker at the CBIA (Collier Building Industry Association) January 30, 2018 monthly membership meeting on Thursday, January 30 at the Hilton Naples, 5111 Tamiami Trail North in Naples, from 5:30 until 7: 30 pm.
“Doors open at 5:30 for networking to be followed by Mr. Strain’s 75-minute presentation “Balancing our Future: Growth, Infrastructure and Services,” reports CBIA executive vice president Kathy Curatolo.
Strain brings more than 40 years experience in construction, development planning and land use in Collier County.
Prior to working for the Board of County Commissioners, his career work included all aspects of the land use from feasibility, due diligence and land acquisition to complete project planning and permitting at all levels of government; managing the installation of miles of roads and infrastructure and finally to vertical build out and turnover. Strain has participated in a range of commercial and industrial projects, single and multi-family projects, hi-rise residential, and complete mixed use communities of nearly 4000 acres.
On 9-11-01 Strain was appointed to the Collier County Planning Commission. In 2005 he was elected Chairman and has remained in that position for the past 13 years. In the spring of 2013 Mark was hired as Collier County’s first Hearing Examiner working under contract for the Board of County Commissioners. These past few years have witnessed the opening of the Hearing Examiner’s office and seen the steady and timely processing of many land use applications, all of which are reviewed by the Hearing Examiner as final decisions
