Harwick Home Kitchen amazing renovation

The kitchen is the heart of every home, and this new one is no exception.

Project manager Alexandra Brennan shares, “This six-month renovation, completed in October, is reminiscent of a reunion: having built more than 20 homes in Grey Oaks, we first worked with this client 15 years ago. Collins & DuPont, her original interior design firm, was again called in for the new home.”

The task at hand: creating a 21st-century oasis imbuing Grey Oaks lush setting and the client’s desire for a somewhat feminized space with a tonally sophisticated palette reflecting her personal style – light, bright and relaxing.

Working within the community’s exterior aesthetic edicts, Harwick’s painstaking attention to architectural details and artisanal elements gave this personality-filled home a sense of timeless elegance. While every room was refurbished, select highlights include:

The kitchen is the heart of every home, and this new one is no exception. From the countertops to the hand-selected glass-mosaic tiles for the backsplash’s swirls, every detail was customized. Harwick removed the peninsula, adding an island to maximize prep space; built a cozy banquette in the breakfast nook; and bespoke cabinetry includes multiple cutlery trays and drawer inserts ensuring there is a place for everything. Marie Kondo would approve!

Southwest Florida’s lifestyle calls for an outdoor kitchen, and a grand one was built near the lanai, which initially was a simple open screen between the existing house lanai columns. Adding a gas line plus Nature Cast Cabinetry, the comforts and amenities of a chef’s kitchen accommodate poolside entertaining and leisurely nights at home. Its surrounding deck now gleams with light reflected from new shell-stone pavers transforming it to a brighter, happier space.

The master bath with a view of the flower garden features a botanically-inspired damask-pattern mosaic in Calacatta marble surrounded by semi-precious natural stones including marble, onyx, mother of pearl, and quartzite. A coveted freestanding Victoria & Albert tub is crafted for “me time” relaxation. The shower wall boasts a cut-crystal Kallista faucet; faceted crystal knobs adorn the cabinets. Guest baths and an added powder room (cut from a closet) all feature bespoke accents echoing this theme.

From top to bottom, every inch under the roof was refreshed. Dazzling new flooring was the project’s biggest feat as each piece measures 3’ by 3’ and weighs 80 pounds, making installation quite a formidable challenge. Circular ceiling treatment details in several rooms add continuity and light while defining each space with painted tongue and groove and boxed beams.

“It’s always an honor and a joy to work with returning clients. This one knew exactly what she wanted, with a budget to match her exquisite taste. Given the circumstances sparking this project, our goal – as with every client – was exceeding her expectations and making her move to this stunning space an easy transition,” notes Brennan.

Chrysalis Award winners will be announced next month, with winning entries featured in the July issues of Qualified Remodeler and its sister publication, Kitchen & Bath Design News.
