Gulf Western Group launches new Environmental Division

Nick Stefanis, Vice President of Corporate Development for Gulf Western Group, today announced the launch of the company’s newest division, Gulf Western Environmental (GWE).

GWE offers a full range of environmental consulting in the areas of preserve management, environmental permitting and compliance, and wetland determinations, with plans to expand into additional environmental fields such as remediation and marine services. The division provides permitting, compliance and land management services including exotic and nuisance species control; environmental restoration and habitat creation; mangrove permitting, pruning and planting, and more.

“Our experienced GWE team has a passion for the natural beauty that surrounds us throughout southwest Florida,” said Stefanis. “We believe it is extremely important to achieve preservation with progress, and we strive to implement strategies that benefit both the environment and our clients.”

Michael LeBlanc and Timothy Schwan, environmental managers with more than 30 years of expertise in projects throughout southwest Florida, lead the new environmental division.

LeBlanc is a graduate of Florida Gulf Coast University, Certified Hazardous Materials Technician and State of Florida Emergency Responder with more than 13 years of public and private sector project management experience across various disciplines including sustainability, land management, environmental permitting, remediation, and environmental restoration and monitoring. His experience includes performing natural resource damage assessments at the 2010 BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill, as well as numerous remediation projects.

Schwan, a Florida native, has a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies and previously worked with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. He is certified in habitat assessment, wetland delineation, uniform mitigation assessment method, and environmental rules and statutes. Schwan’s experience includes deployment as a State Representative during the Deepwater Horizon oil spill remediation efforts, as well as multiple complex compliance issues. He has conducted multiple land management reviews for state-required compliance at the Cecil M. Webb Wildlife Management Area/Babcock Ranch and the Picayune Strand Restoration projects.
