CBIA Announces Prestigious 2020 Associate & Builder of the Year Awards

The Collier Building Industry Association (CBIA) has announced its 2020 Associate and Builder of the Year Awards and unveiled its 2021 Board of Directors.
Erin Otterbeck of AlliKristé Custom Cabinetry & Kitchen Design was presented the prestigious CBIA 2020 Associate of the Year award. As the chair of the 2020 Sand Dollar event, Erin Otterbeck worked tirelessly to help create a successful virtual Sand Dollar event.

“Erin encouraged ideas, listened to suggestions, worked with the team of staff and Sand Dollar committee members to make unprecedented decisions to effectively execute our very first virtual gala,” said CBIA executive officer Amelia Vasquez.

The 2020 CBIA Builder of the Year honor was presented to Matt Sellick of Stock Development.

“Matt has done a tremendous job growing his division at Stock Development and serving in various roles on the CBIA board of directors,” said John Williams of RWA Inc., CBIA past president. “He is a respected leader by all those with whom he surrounds himself, and he gives 110% in all he does on behalf of CBIA. He is the epitome of a quote by the great Winston Churchill, ‘We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.’”

The 2021 Board of Directors features a wide range of qualified and notable figures in the community from a variety of businesses as follows:

The elected President is Drew Kowalczyk of PulteGroup.; John Williams of RWA, Inc. is Immediate Past President; Leroy Christiansen of Baldwin, Krystyn, Sherman Partners is Past Vice President; Matt Sellick of Stock Custom Homes is President Elect; Norm Gentry of BUILD LLC is Vice President; Ryan Benson of A Vernon Allen Builder is Secretary; and Treasurer is Kevin Deardorff of Waldrop Engineering, P.A.

Additional board members include: Dominick Amico of Agnoli, Barber & Brundage, Inc.; Robyn Bonaquist of B-Squared Advertising; Cali Clardy of Refined Builders & Construction, LLC; JP Coleman of JP Coleman Construction; Dave Dunnavant of Peninsula Construction & Engineering; Marc Huling of Roetzel & Andress, L.P.A.; Jackie Nelson of Premier Sotheby’s International Realty; Chris McEachern of Newbury North Associates; Sean Morton of Morton & Wasmer Builders, LLC; and Kevin Rea of Specialty Building Services. Nick Radick of Knauf-Koenig Group is the Sales & Marketing Council (SMC) chairperson for 2021.
Two CBIA members were also honored for their leadership representing southwest Florida in its collective work through the Florida Home Builders’ Association (FHBA).

The FHBA – State of Florida, Associate of the Year was presented to Robyn Bonaquist, B-Squared Advertising, for her expertise in the industry and demonstration of outstanding leadership skills at the state level. Her work has included chairing the FHBA Sales and Marketing Council and chairing the Southeast Building Conference in 2019. She has served in numerous leadership roles at CBIA over the past decade and continues to serve on the CBIA board of directors and Sales and Marketing Council.

The FHBA – State of Florida, Young Building Professional of the Year was presented to CBIA past president, Ryan Benson, A Vernon Allen Builder, in recognition for his leadership role in advocating for the building industry at the State and local levels and engaging peers to further advocate on behalf of the industry across the State of Florida.

This year, the CBIA awards nominating committee developed a new award to honor “Community Champions” within the various City of Naples and Collier County building departments with whom members of CBIA have worked for the past eight years, sharing communication and working toward mutually beneficial solutions in various aspects of the construction industry here in Collier County.

Recipients of the first annual CBIA Champion Award are:

James French, former Director of the Collier County Growth Management Division and current Director of the Collier County Parks and Recreation Division.
Richard Long, Collier County Director of Building Planning Review and Inspections
Jonathan Walsh, Collier County Building Official
Craig Mole, City of Naples Building Official.
