Shane Klepko, president of Harwick Homes, today announced the luxury custom homebuilder and remodeler won a prestigious 2021 Chrysalis Award for Remodeling Excellence. Of 102 total award recipients nationwide, Harwick Homes is the only homebuilder in Lee and Collier counties to receive a 2021 Chrysalis Award; it is one of only three Florida-based builders among this year’s winners.
Harwick’s entry in the category of Residential Specialty Item over $50,000 was selected for its remarkable transformation of an open, two-story living area into a one-story living room with a karaoke bar, club room and band performance area on the second floor. The project was further chosen as the National Award winner from among four corresponding regional winners.
“We enjoyed the challenge of taking this client’s previously unused, open vertical space and turning it into a large second-floor stage, lounge and bar area perfect for accommodating 30 to 40 people for small concerts, karaoke parties, weekend jam sessions, and more,” said Harwick Homes President Shane Klepko. “The club room and lounge are further accentuated by advanced technological equipment necessary for high-quality performances and musical entertainment experiences.”
The new, 1,200-square-foot club room has state-of-the-art lighting; acoustic insulation; sound-absorbing ceiling clouds; lounge with restroom; wood flooring; bar and serving area with custom LED backlit glass top, and display spaces showcasing the homeowner’s collection of autographed, music memorabilia.
A strategically orchestrated sequence, which included the homeowner visually inspecting for fit and form after each step, allowed this custom space to come together. The builder started with framing, followed by rough mechanicals, drywall and decorative trim. Once complete, delicate acoustic fabric panels were installed in the walls and ceilings. Next came decorative lighting fixtures and sound-absorbing ceiling clouds. Finally, additional wiring, stage lighting and stage equipment were carefully installed. Technologically advanced sound and lighting systems ensure acoustic clarity and consistent visual interest throughout.
As another result of the five-month project, the residence now features a spacious new home theater adjacent to the club room and lounge, which allows the homeowners to provide multiple entertainment opportunities simultaneously. One group may wish to watch the big game or a movie in the theater while others are playing instruments, singing and performing, so there is something for everyone to enjoy.
The Chrysalis Awards program, begun in 1994, recognizes the nation’s best work in 27 general categories of residential and commercial remodeling. National winners are selected from among the top winners in each of four geographical regions throughout the country. The entries were judged on overall design, the creative use of space and materials, the degree to which the project enhanced the original structure, handling of challenges and cost benefit. The competition is open to any professional remodeler or design professional. There is no requirement to be a member of any specific trade association.
Pictures of the 2021 award-winning projects can be seen on Chrysalis website www.chrysalisawards.com beginning in late July.
